Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Russia and Ukraine are reportedly carrying out a joint peace dialogue. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Ignazio Cassis.

In his statement, Ignazio said negotiations were currently underway with “maximum discretion” in Geneva. However, he did not elaborate on the details of the negotiations.

“We always offer good services, but it remains to be seen what both sides, both Russia and Ukraine, will do,” he was quoted as saying by Serbian media, B92 last weekend, quoted Monday (27/2/2023).

“The negotiations are being held in Geneva with great care, although not at the highest level at the moment,” he told Le Temps.

Ignazio also explained that previously Ukraine had asked Switzerland to represent its interests in Russia. But this request was rejected in Moscow.

“The Russian narrative is well known: it has announced that Switzerland has lost its neutrality, but at the same time (we) are using it as a neutral country,” he added.

Ignazio’s statement occurred when the massive war between the two countries had entered one year. Until now, Russia still insists that it will end the war if the territory under Eastern Ukraine is recognized as part of its sovereignty.
