Alerts! Russia Threatens World War 3 on NATO

Jakarta, CNBC IndonesiaRussia threaten NATO going to “World War 3”. This was said Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.

This relates to the territory of Ukraine which the Kremlin has annexed since 2014, Crimea. Any “violations” committed by the alliance on the Crimean peninsula will be considered a declaration of World War 3.

“For us, Crimea is part of Russia. And that means forever. Any attempt to encroach on Crimea is a declaration of war against our country,” Medvedev stressed Monday, quoted Reuters Tuesday (28/6/2022) launched a news site Arguments and Facts.

“And if this is done by a NATO member state, it would mean conflict with the entire North Atlantic alliance; World War Three. A total disaster,” he added.

On the same occasion, Medvedev also threatened Sweden and Finland, which were one step away from joining NATO. Russia, he said, would strengthen its borders and would be “ready for retaliatory measures”.

“This could include the prospect of installing Iskander hypersonic missiles on their doorstep,” the media quoted Medvedev as saying.

Meanwhile, on the same day, NATO itself plans to alert up to 300 thousand troops amid tensions with Russia because of Ukraine. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a press conference in the middle of the alliance summit.

In a press statement overnight, it said the move represented the biggest shake-up in the collective defense of the Cold War. He also said a Russian attack on Ukraine was a direct threat to the alliance.

“Our NATO summit in Madrid this week will be transformative with many important decisions, including on a new Strategic Concept for a new security reality,” he said.

“We will transform the NATO Response Force and increase the number of our high readiness troops to more than 300,000,” he added.

This figure alone is a sizable increase of almost 650%. Previously, the NATO standby force only numbered 40 thousand personnel.

“These forces will train together with the domestic defense forces, and they will be familiar with local terrain facilities … so that they can respond smoothly and quickly to any emergency.”

Previously, the Baltic states of the NATO alliance such as Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia felt that Russia could attack them. Especially for Lithuania, the country is in dispute over the prohibition of crossing Russian trains that want to go to Moscow’s enclave in the Baltic Sea, Kaliningrad.

Russian President Vladimir Putin himself launched an attack on Ukraine last February 24. The attack was launched as Kyiv was trying to join the US-led military alliance.
