Recently, there was a scene on social media when a woman named Yunita Sari was scammed by a car salesperson at an official dealer. Incidents like this have happened many times. Understand the modus operandi of the fraudster so as not to become a victim.

As previously reported, Yunita was tricked into tens of millions of rupiah when she intended to buy a new car. The surprising fact of this case is that a fraud occurred at the official Honda car dealer, which is located in MT Haryono.

Yunita said that she intends to buy a Honda Brio car with uniformed sales personnel, ID cards to convincing business cards.

Long story short, Yunita agreed to buy a Brio type E which was upgraded to an RS type with the addition of a body kit, Honda’s distinctive H logo, spoiler and so on with an agreed discount. Yunita did not suspect the sales person at all because the transaction was carried out at an authorized dealer and carried out with a salesperson in full uniform.

However, transactions are carried out by transfer to a personal account. Unfortunately, a down payment of IDR 47 million transferred to a personal account was stolen by these individuals.

The case of fraud under the guise of car sales has not happened once or twice. Chairman of the Indonesian Consumers Community (KKI) David Tobing said similar cases had occurred several times. There’s even something going on at the auto show.

“Often, maybe five times. At the exhibition there. Even at the exhibition he was deceived,” said David to detikcom by telephone, Monday (7/3/2022).

There are various modes, said David. One of them diverts the destination account to another account, not the dealer’s official account.

“Because the color doesn’t exist, a down payment of Rp. 20 million to unscrupulous persons, Rp. 200 million to a dealer, and another Rp. 200 million to another dealer. Ask for a down payment, they say the type is rare, some say the color is not here, so you have to transfer it to PT others. There are various modes, “said David.

There are also, said David, consumers who are lured by accessories. The mode is, so that it is not complicated if the transaction is to a company account, the destination account is transferred to a personal account.

“Usually a limitation is made first, if for example through the company they say there are no accessories, they can’t get this and so on. Finally an exception is made, but you have to pay elsewhere. There are also many modes like that,” he said.
