Alert! The New Variant of Covid Has Entered Indonesia, Recognize the Symptoms

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 sub-variants have been confirmed to have entered Indonesia. This was stated directly by the Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, met at his office, Friday (10/6/2022).

“Well, for your information, friends, it was found in Indonesia yesterday in Bali that there were already 4 people affected by BA.4 and BA.5. We are now monitoring it because this can indeed avoid vaccine immunity, the spread is also fast, just like the Omicron variant. ,” explained Budi.

BGS, as he is familiarly called, said that the recent increase in Covid-19 cases was also due to the new variant.

“So we have confirmed that the cause of the increase in cases must be a new variant,” he said.

Even so, according to BGS, Covid-19 cases in Indonesia are still well monitored. The cause is lift positivity rate and the transmission of reported cases is low.

So far, only DKI Jakarta has recorded numbers positivity rate at the 3% level. Meanwhile, nationally it is still reported to be at 1.1%.
