Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – There are several early signs and symptoms of lung disease, namely Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), asthma, and cancer. Apparently, problems in the lungs can also be seen on the skin.

The lungs themselves are very important organs. Because, one of these respiratory organs is directly related to blood circulation. If there is a problem, the lungs can cause big problems in the body’s metabolic system.

For that, know some signs of problems with the lungs that can be seen on the skin, see the following summary:

1. Yellow skin

Lung cancer that has spread to the pancreas or liver can cause jaundice. Jaundice is a condition where the color of several parts of the body, such as the surface of the skin and sclera or the whites of the eyes, becomes yellowish in color.

This is caused by increased bilirubin in the blood. Bilirubin is a yellow or orange substance that is made during the normal breakdown of red blood cells. If lung cancer has spread to the liver, pancreas, or bile duct, it can cause higher than normal levels of bilirubin.

2. Itchy skin

Signs of lung problems from the skin are also visible from the itchy skin side. Reporting from Very Well Health, itchy skin can be another sign that lung cancer has spread to the liver. If the liver is affected it can cause a buildup of bile salts which causes itching.

3. Easy bruising

Easily bruised skin can be a sign of lung problems. Certain tumors can cause the secretion of too much adrenocorticotropic hormone which increases cortisol levels. Elevated levels can cause skin symptoms, such as skin that bruises easily, significant purple discoloration or stretch marks, and a red, swollen face.

4. Heliotrope Ruam

Heliotrope rash is a reddish-purple rash around the eyes caused by dermatomyositis. Scientists say that complicated dermatomyositis with non-small cell lung cancer is not uncommon and that severe lung cancer can develop quickly.

5. Papula Gottron

One sign of lung problems on the skin is gottronic papules. Gottron papules are dark red bumps or raised patches on the knuckles, joints of the fingers or toes, elbows, ankles, or knees. Similar to the heliotrope rash, this is also caused by dermatomyositis.
