Authorities in the capital are on alert, after mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus were detected in several areas, following a monitoring of the arboviral epidemiological risk.
According to sources in the health authorities, quoted by Hotnews, the mosquitoes were detected a few days ago, and urgent measures were requested to eliminate the risks of infection among citizens. The targeted green area is Eroilor – Universitate, which includes Izvor and Cizmigiu parks, but also other locations in Bucharest.
The representatives of the Capital City Hall transmitted, according to the previously quoted source, that it was decided to intensify the treatments to combat these insects and that so far no cases of transmission of the dangerous virus to the inhabitants have been confirmed.
“The City Hall of Bucharest, through the Eco-Sanitation Company, intensified, since Wednesday, July 21, the mosquito control treatments in the areas where the presence of West Nile virus was reported, respectively: Splaiul Independenței, the area between Eroilor and Universitate, parks Cismigiu and Izvor, Crângași neighborhood. PMB keeps in touch daily with the Bucharest Public Health Directorate (DSPMB), and to date no cases of transmission of this virus to the population have been confirmed, “the statement reads.
