“The continuing provocations of North Korea are acts that undermine the peace and stability of the Korean peninsula and the international community,” he added.
North Korea had previously launched a short-range ballistic missile into the sea off its east coast on Friday. The South Korean army is also detected 10 North Korean military planes fly close to the border that separates the two countries.
The frequency of North Korea’s rocket launches this year is believed to be unprecedented. It raises concerns that The hermit country could prepare to resume nuclear bomb tests for the first time since 2017.
However, some analysts say nuclear tests will not take place until neighboring China makes a decision at the Communist Party congress, which began yesterday on October 16. China itself is believed to be renaming Xi Jinping president for a third term.
North Korea’s latest military activity also comes after South Korean troops began their annual “Hoguk” defense exercise on Monday. It was designed to increase their ability to respond to nuclear and missile threats from their neighbors.
The tests will end on Saturday. It is the latest in a series of South Korean military exercises in recent weeks, including joint activities with the United States and Japan.
