Minister of Foreign Affairs TaiwanJoseph Wu, accused China using air and sea drills held around Taiwan in preparation for an invasion of Taiwan territory. Beijing is also accused of trying to change the status quo in the Asia-Pacific region.
As reported AFPTuesday (9/8/2022), China held biggest military exercise around Taiwan last week in response to the DPR Speaker’s controversial visit United States of America (AS) Nancy Pelosi Taipei.
“China has used its military drills and guidance to prepare for an invasion of Taiwan,” Joseph Wu said at a press conference in Taipei.

“China conducts large-scale military exercises and missile launches, as well as cyber attacks, disinformation campaigns and economic coercion to undermine public morale in Taiwan,” he added.
Joseph Wu also reiterated his criticism of China’s military drills continuing until Monday (8/8) local time, though previously stated the drills would end on Sunday (7/8) local time.
Joseph Wu emphasized that the Chinese military exercises were hampering activity on one of the world’s busiest shipping and air routes.
This Joseph Wu press conference was held after the Taiwanese military conducted live-fire drills in a simulation of self-defense from outside attacks.
