Among the care, the population is reminded that the confirmation of the shift will be made only by email.
The Ministry of Security warns about a new virtual scam that has been circulating for a few weeks in Mendoza. It is a hoax through WhatsApp using the vaccination campaign against COVID-19.
According to the Economic Crimes specialists of the portfolio, the objective of this new modality is to steal the identity of the WhatsApp account and from there send messages to the contacts asking for money.
The modus operandi of the scammers is through a message that says “you have a turn for the second dose of the coronavirus” and adds a link through which the person must confirm the turn.
In this way, when accessing the link, the person receives a “code” to complete the alleged procedure. But those digits are a WhatsApp verification step to set up the account on another device.
Through this code, the scammers take over the victim’s WhatsApp account and with the application installed on another phone, the criminals will start sending messages to the contacts asking for money for an urgent situation.
For this reason, the authorities recommend never providing personal data, or any bank account to unknown people or people outside the family.
Regarding vaccination, the population is reminded that the confirmation of the shift will be made only by email.
On the other hand, it is always advisable to obtain information through the official website of the provincial government: www.mendoza.gov.ar/salud.
Faced with this type of scam, immediately call 911 or go to the nearest police station.
