Shot down a Su-25 during an air raid
This was told to journalists by his sworn brothers. Novitsky, who had the call sign “Kazakh”, scrapped an enemy Su-25 on 5 January. On that day, the invaders carried out an air raid. But the sleight of hand and the presence of the Stinger MANPADS on the side made it possible to save the lives of themselves and those who were nearby.
It is known that on that fateful day, “Kazakh”, together with his brothers, were at an observation post near Bakhmut. They received a message that three enemy aircraft flew into the affected area – two Su-27 fighters and a Su-25 attack aircraft. There was no Ukrainian aviation in that area, so the guys had to get rid of the enemy on their own.
As soon as the invaders approached the positions of the defenders of Ukraine, the Su-25 pilot went downhill to attack. Brothers of the military recall that then the score was literally in seconds. “Kazakh” reacted instantly, who was away for a short time to warm his frozen hands at least a little.
The “Kazakh” literally flew into position, quickly oriented itself to the target, picked up the “Stinger” from me, aimed and fired. A few seconds later we saw a bunch of black smoke,
– said brother Mikhail Kostya.

Killed during the retreat
It was expected that enemy planes might still return, so we had to change the illuminated position. We quickly packed up and went to the reserve position. At this time, artillery shelling began,
Kostya recalls.
He admits that he did not even understand where our defenders came from. Its literally thrown up by the blast and hit the ground. Brother got to his feet, grabbed the Stinger, and then he saw something he would never forget. Before his eyes was immobilized “Kazakh”. Unfortunately, he died on the spot from injuries sustained by the debris from the shells.

“Kazakh” went to defend Ukraine from the first days of the invasion / Photo of brothers
Alexey Novitsky in civilian life was a builder. Three children and a mother were waiting for him at home. But he was not of the nature to sit in the rear. From the first days of a full-scale invasion, a man went to defend his native Ukraine and the right to the future of his relatives.
Over the past months of the war, Alexei Novitsky, like most of our fighters, has become a truly professional warrior: brave, determined and reliable. Actually, the Russian Drying he destroyed is a vivid confirmation of this,
– said Oleg Zelinsky, press officer of Novitsky’s brigade.
The command of the brigade, as well as Novitsky’s sworn brothers, are convinced that “Kazakh” worthy to receive the title of Hero of Ukraine. There is already a suitable request. It remains only to wait until the corresponding award, albeit posthumously, will be awarded to another Ukrainian who gave his life so that others could live.
