Recently, the media heard about the program “Start again” broadcast on TVP. In the 16th episode of the show we met Ula’s story, whose participation was to help deal with it with a painful separation from her husband after 25 years of relationship. The format in theory is to help people “on the corners of life” to accept their appearance, get rid of complexes and start a new chapter. Unfortunately, in the case of Ula, viewers were witnesses body shaming festival.

Comments from the leaders of “Start over” outraged, among others stylist Adam Chowanski, who even suggested on Instagram submitting complaints to the National Broadcasting Council on this matter. In the face of the media turmoil on Saturday, one of the show’s hostesses decided to take the floor, Aleksandra Kostek. The presenter published an extensive post on her Instagram profile, in which she used her favorite celebrity method of showing repentance – she apologized to all offended. She also ensured that she had no bad intentions and that she and her friend on the screen acted in accordance with the idea of the format.

(…) I would like to apologize with all my heart if I offended anyone with my statements. It was absolutely not my intention. It is a program for which people willing to face their disturbing disadvantages volunteered. My task (with Kalina Ben Sira) – with the personal consent of each of the participants – was to see these areas and find a solution together, how to eliminate or repair them, how to start a new life better – regaining self-confidence – we read in Kostka’s statement.

Later in the post, the presenter assured that she belongs to people who judge others by their appearance. As she emphasized, she also notices her own shortcomings and has been fighting with her weight for years. Apparently, it was her personal experience that prompted her to accept the position running the program. In this way, Kostka wanted to help people struggling with problems.

If I used too strong phrases – I apologize for that with all my heart. (…) Every person is important to me – regardless of appearance, sex or age. I respect everyone the same. Who knows me better knows that external appearance has never mattered so much to me – as the inside of a human being. I never judge anyone by appearance. I myself have a lot of shortcomings and flaws, I have a tendency to gain weight myself, with which I have been fighting for years – and I am not a filigree person. That is why I undertook to co-host this program – because I know that for many people with various problems – it is a helping hand to look at myself from a different perspective and … start over she continued.

At the end, Kostka emphasized that the TVP program helped many participants to believe in themselves, and the hosts did not intend to criticize the appearance of its heroes, but to make them spread their wings. By the way, the presenter also announced an active fight against Instagram haters.
