“Alejo Sanchez: The Aragonese Tennis Star Making Waves at Roland Garros Junior Category”

And at from Alejo Sanchez Outside of a normal life, the daily life of a kid who is about to reach the age of majority, these days he would most likely be a bundle of nerves. The Aragonese, like thousands of young people in the Community, would be at the gates of the dreaded Evau, which starts on June 6 with the ordinary call. However, neither his body nor his mind are now in the classrooms. The bilbilitan, 17 years old, is in Paris to debut tomorrow in the junior category of Roland Garros.

That boy, who at just 4 years old began to give his first rackets, fulfills one of his great wishes these days, to compete on the Parisian sand. «My goal is to play good games, I want to gain experience and access the final phase Roland Garros”, explains Sánchez with ambition, aware that he is facing the “most important tournament” of his still short career.

But, although brief, the Bilbilitano already has a more than remarkable career. In Aragon, he is the absolute champion, while last year he was proclaimed junior runner-up in Spain. This 2023, the athlete has won several international tournaments, such as the ITF junior Grand Avignon (France) or the ITF in Florence.

This last success is what allowed him to buy the ticket for Roland Garros, but Alejo wants more. «I want to reach the finals here and if I do, I may play Wimbledon too. That is my wish and the best possible gift,” says the young man, who will turn 18 in June. The Stadium Casablanca tennis player, who landed at the club at just 10 years old, works conscientiously every day to maintain his progression.

«I train every day in the morning and many also in the afternoon. In recent days we have lowered the intensity a bit to arrive in France in the best possible shape », he explains.

The studies, at a distance

This demanding work routine prevents Alejo Sánchez from attending class in the morning. However, studies are also a very important part of his life. «It is a matter of organizing and being responsible, although sometimes it is hard», points out the second-year high school student who, with his most immediate future still up in the air, does not know if he will be able to take the Evau this year.

Off the track, the Aragonese is clear about his fundamental pillars. «My family and friends are very supportive.. All of them, like me, are very excited and wanting things to turn out well, “says the Bilbilitan, who has Roger Federer and Carlos Alcaraz as his two main references.
