Alejandro Fuentes had to leave Shall We Dance after the season’s first duel

The fifth broadcast of Shall We Dance was filled with tears, bad and good memories, and standing ovations. At the same time as Norway celebrated the reopening of the country, the celebrities danced on the floor for more personal moments.

Tears and standing ovations

The one who impressed the judges the most during tonight’s broadcast was host Siri Avlesen-Østli (37) who got a total of 29 points from the judges.

She told the strong story of what it was like to visit the adoptive country of Sri Lanka, where she witnessed, among other things, that the hotel she stayed at threw food when there were children outside starving. The dance was an equally strong depiction of history.

– This was brutal, it was beautiful, it was extremely honest and genuine, said a clearly impressed Merete Mørk Lingjærde (58) who gave Avlesen-Østli ten points for the dance.

Avlesen-Østli herself was incredibly pleased with both the dance and the choreography, and admitted that the feedback from the judges meant extra when she was unsure if she wanted to share something so personal with so many people.

– It feels worth it when it hits people. When it means so much to me, and when people like what we deliver, it means extremely much, said a clearly marked Avlesen-Østli.

Judge Morten Hegseth (35) also let himself be moved by the modern dance and shed tears before he gave Avlesen-Østli a ten.

– I was laughing to death, I think I have to go to a psychologist after the broadcast, Hegseth said with tears down his face.

– Best I’ve seen from you

The couples who ended up at the bottom were Alejandro Funetes (33) and Maria Lie Ramella (24) who danced samba, and Dennis Vareide (31) and Lillian Aasebø (28) who danced slowfox. Despite the fact that Dennis ended up second at the bottom after the referee points, he also got his highest score so far with 19 points.

Judge Mørk Lingjærde, who admits she has been harsh in her feedback to Vareide, was impressed this time.

– You have developed, this is the best I have seen of you so far, said Mørk Lindgjære.

Judge Trine Dehli Kleve (60) was also impressed by Vareide’s slow fox.

– Who had seen you dance such a slowfox four weeks ago? No! You do not give up, and stand on, said Kleve.

A clearly marked and happy Vareide smiled from ear to ear over the feedback, and explained to presenters Katrine Moholt (48) and Anders Hoff (45) that he was overwhelmed by the praise.

– I’m completely in shock, I have no words. Literally, he said, smiling.

The first dance duel of the season

It was Maren Lundby (26) and Philip Raabe (21), and Alejandro Funetes (33) and Maria Lie Ramella (24) who ended up in the season’s first dance duel.

– I was dissatisfied with what I did instead, but now I am satisfied, Lundby said after she had danced the duel.

Judge Dehli Kleve agreed with this, and felt that both Lundby and Fuentes did better in the dance duel than the first dance of the evening. Hegseth and Kleve both agreed that Lundby was the one who deserved to move on. However, Funetes did not take this seriously.

– I have become very fond of everyone, I just enjoy myself, Funetes said about ending up in a dance duel.

After the ball was lifted in from the left, Alejandro Fuentes was on his own in the home side’s penalty area and should have scored after 37 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration.

– Thank you very much Maria, you are a fantastic person and dancer, said a button Funetes to the dance partner when asked how he felt.

– Do not fuck meat what they do!

Fuentes tells TV 2 that Shall we dance has been a fantastic experience, but that he was prepared for tonight’s outcome.

– It’s weird, but I was prepared. It is a roller coaster of emotions, he says to TV 2 over the phone.

He says that the best thing about the Shall We Dance experience was the days at the dance center, and everyone he has gotten to know from both the other celebrities and the dancers. But there are some he will miss more than others.

– Maria and Catalin are the ones I will miss the most. Maria has got a big place in my heart, says the 33-year-old.

Dance partner Ramella agrees with this, and explains that she has had an incredibly nice experience with Fuentes as a partner.

– He has great respect for the sport, and has trained hard since day one. He has been very good, she says over the phone.

– Yes, it’s not the meat they do !, Fuentes adds and laughs.

He explains that he will miss creating the great TV moments, and be part of a world in which you put your soul and heart. The plans for the evening, however, are to relax and to go to meet the family.

– Now I’m going home to bed, and up at 06 tomorrow with the children before we travel home to Kristiansand.

This is tonight’s dancer:

Simon Nitsche (28) and Helene Spilling (25) danced jive to the song Rebel Yell by Billy Idol, in which he honored his German father.

Royane Harkati (28) and Ole Thomas Hansen (22) danced modern to the song Vi Lovar by Eva Weel Skram, where she paid tribute to her children to tears and applause from the judges.
