This Saturday we remembered the Barcelona actress, Itziar Castro, who died early last Friday at the age of 46. During the summer, she was a collaborator of “Let’s Live It’s Two Days” and left phrases that we will always keep in our memories: “Carmen Maura said it a lot, that the success of this profession is not to go crazy, because one day you are a goddess and The next day no one calls you.” The actress emphasized the need for emotional support, especially in the acting sector: “Mental health should be worked on a lot in acting schools.” Always faithful to her principles and values, Castro claimed that she wanted to “represent everything that is left out and that is in capital letters.”
Following our usual weekly informative vision, we have analyzed, together with the lawyer specializing in tax and inheritance law, Alejandro Ebrat, the issue of inheritances. The Mossos de Esquadra have dismantled this week a criminal gang that falsified documents and, with the connivance of a bank employee, posed as heirs to deceased accounts to claim their inheritances. This gang managed to divert more than two million euros. However, the Mossos were able to identify the nine people who were behind the robbery and they were arrested for the crime of fraud, document laundering and for posing as false heirs. Everything was discovered when a woman went to ask for a duplicate ID card and they realized that she had been listed as deceased for two years, and someone had been collecting her inheritance. Ebrat has confirmed that this type of theft “occurs among people who really had no heirs and, since no one complains, it is easy for them.” In this case there was “a snitch who told them that there was a bank account in which no one was claiming anything,” according to the lawyer, who attributes these cases to the conversion of all these procedures to electronic means.
Starting in 2024, Catalan pharmacies will distribute free reusable menstrual products. This is a measure promoted by the Generalitat of Catalonia and is part of the Comprehensive Menstrual and Climacteric Equity Plan 2023-2025. Sílvia Aldavert, the coordinator of the Association of Sexual and Reproductive Rights, has claimed the need to educate on menstrual health, since, as she has recalled, menstrual products are still subject to luxury taxes. This initiative aims to promote menstrual equity, reduce the footprint of single-use menstrual products and end the feminization of poverty.
