The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), Juan Ramón de la Fuente, announced seven new appointments to his team, among which Alejandra del Moral Vela, former candidate for governor of the State of Mexico for the PRI, stands out. .
During the afternoon of October 4, the Foreign Ministry announced that the former PRI politician will serve as executive director of the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID).
“At AMEXCID we welcome our new Executive Director, Alejandra Del Moral. With your leadership, capacity and experience, we will continue to strengthen international cooperation and development. As a team, we continue to build a Mexico that is more supportive and committed to the world!” shared the decentralized body of the Foreign Ministry.

According to the SRE, Amexcid, founded in 2011, is the institutional/administrative body empowered to coordinate, program, promote, execute and evaluate Mexico’s international cooperation actions and programs.
Among other things, it focuses its efforts on technical and scientific cooperation in sectors such as: health, environment, education, infrastructure, science and technology, tourism, economy and finance.
On the other hand, it stands out that the announcement that makes Del Moral another member of the federal government, headed by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, is presented just over 4 months after he presented his resignation to the PRI.
On May 27, 2024, Alejandra del Moral announced her departure from the tricolor. Through a letter addressed to Alejandro ‘Alito’ Moreno, national leader of the political party, he wrote:
“The PRI that I knew, which I proudly presented and defended, is no longer the same. He has moved away from being the authentic voice of the people. After deep reflection, I have come to the conclusion that it is time to build new paths.”
A few hours later through X – formerly Twitter – Sheinbaum Pardo shared a photograph with her.
“I met with Alejandra del Moral. We reflect on the future of our country and find more similarities than differences: continue building a Mexico for all, with justice, democracy, freedoms and shared prosperity. It is time for women and it is time for transformation. “I thank you for your decision to join our project in favor of the people of Mexico,” he wrote.

Del Moral, born on August 22, 1983 in Cuautitlán Izcalli, State of Mexico, was president of her native municipality between 2009 and 2012. Then, between 2012 and 2015, she joined the Congress of the Union as a representative for district 7 of the Edomex.
She is known for having been the candidate for governor of the State of Mexico in the 2023 state elections, as part of the Va por el Estado de México alliance, made up of the PRI, PAN, PRD and Nueva Alianza.
Regarding his academic career, he highlights that he has a degree in Private International Law from the Complutense University of Madrid, as well as a degree in Law from the Ibero-American University (UIA).
His last degree of study is a master’s degree in Public Administration and Public Policy from the Technological Institute of Higher Studies of Monterrey, state of Mexico campus (ITESM-CEM).
