Alegna González achieves a goal in Paris 2024, but assures: “I have to get this anger out” | TUDN Ambassadors

Mexican race walker Alegna González managed to finish fifth in her 20km women’s race walk at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which means an Olympic diploma; however, she did not hide her anger after the competition.

Gonzalez said she had been preparing to win a medal in the individual event, which was not to be, but that she will try to achieve that goal in the relay event.

“I have to change my mindset. I’ve finished the individual event. I think that with this anger I have, I have to get it out somehow, and what better way than in this relay event to achieve my goal. I don’t want to leave without achieving it.”

Alejandra Ortega finished in 24th place, while Ilse Guerrero finished in 39th place in a very grueling competition that featured a lot of heat and humidity in the ‘City of Light’.

China’s Jiayu Yang, who was not among the big favourites, surprised everyone in the 20-kilometre race walk at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, taking the gold medal ahead of Spain’s María Pérez, who won silver, and Australia’s Jemina Montag.

Yang dominated much of the race on a one-kilometer route designed between Trocadero and the Eiffel Tower.
