The actor and film director, Alec Balwin, could be released from the crime of involuntary manslaughter that he committed in 2021 to the detriment of the Director of Photography, Halyna Hutchins, while they were rehearsing the film “Rust”.
UNITED STATES .- Prosecutors in New Mexico plan to drop the charge for the “accident” that caused the death of the cinematographer, her lawyers reported Thursday.
“We are pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin and support a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident,” Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro said in a statement.
On the day of the shoot, Baldwin was pointing a firearm at cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, when the gun went off.
Baldwin has said that the gun discharged accidentally and that he did not pull the trigger, however, an FBI forensics report found that the gun could not have been fired unless the trigger was pulled.
