Aldi withdraws €7.5k award for ex-British army soldier dismissed unfairly due to unpaid goods

Scott, who admitted to taking food and drink without paying for them on seven separate dates, was dismissed by Aldi for gross misconduct. Foley has upheld the appeal against the unfair dismissal, stating that there were substantial grounds justifying the dismissal. The doctor employed by Aldi’s occupational health service found that Scott’s behavior could not be attributed to forgetfulness from his medication or PTSD. The court ruled that Aldi’s response to dismiss Scott was within the reasonable range of an employer, and Scott’s dismissal was not unfair.
