Alcohol in the blood: 85-year-old notices flat tires late

Gummersbach – The man drove about three kilometers on the Westtangente despite the breakdown – he injured himself while checking.

Because he was driving with a flat front tire on the West Tangente, an 85-year-old driver noticed drunk driving on Tuesday afternoon. Shortly before 2 p.m., the man from Bergisch Gladbach drove from Vollmerhausen in the direction of Marienheide over a distance of about three kilometers at relatively low speed and with a flat front tire, the police said.

Eventually he stopped his vehicle to check the tire. After getting out, he lost his balance and fell. Witnesses called an ambulance because of an injury sustained, which took the 85-year-old to the Gummersbach hospital for treatment.

After a preliminary alcohol test by the police, who were also called, showed almost 1.6 per mille, a blood sample was taken and the driver’s license was secured, the message continues.
