Alcaraz boy’s first idol … and it’s not Nadal

Carlos Alcaraz is the man of the moment in world sport. To reach the elite he noticed many tennis players, but above all one. The number one of the ATP has never hidden his great devotion to Rafa Nadal. Murciano has only praise for the Majorcan as well as for his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero. However, when he was just twelve, he had already recognized that his great idol was Roger Federer. In fact, in his room he had the portrait of the Swiss tennis player hung every now and then.

One of Alcaraz’s turning points came in 2020 when he trained with Roger at Wimbledon. On that occasion, he recognized the nerves he had and that that session served as a lesson to keep improving. The Swiss marked a before and after in the younger generations together with Nadal, Djokovic. Federer’s legacy is spectacular with a total of 111 career titles: 20 Grand Slams, 6 ATP World Tour Finals, 28 ATP Masters 1,000, 24 ATP 500 and 25 ATP 250, plus gold at the Olympic Games, an ATP Masters 1.000, 3 ATP 500 and 3 ATP 250 obtained in double.
