An album John Lennon signed for his killer Mark Chapman is up for auction. This is a copy of Double Fantasy, the album that Lennon released in 1980 with his wife Yoko Ono.
Chapman had the album signed just hours before he would kill Lennon. Chapman had secured the autograph when Lennon left his apartment. When Lennon returned home a few hours later, he was shot by Chapman.
Chapman was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for the murder. Last summer, a release request was denied for the eleventh time. As a result, he will be detained for at least another two years. He may again apply for parole in 2022, just as he has done every other year since 2000.
Interested parties have to dig deep into their pockets to get hold of this unique copy. The minimum bid for the record is in fact 400,000 dollars (about 337,000 euros).
