Facts: The national handball team’s Olympic upload
The men will fly to Sweden’s large Olympic camp in Fukuoka on Wednesday. The ladies leave on Thursday.
Both national teams will travel on to the Olympic city of Tokyo on July 21.
Olympic handball begins with two six-team groups, both for women and men, where the top four advance to the quarterfinals.
Men’s matches: Bahrain July 24, Japan July 26, Portugal July 28, Egypt July 30 and Denmark August 1.
Ladies’ matches: Spain 25 July, the Russian Olympic Committee’s team 27 July, France 29 July, Brazil 31 July and Hungary 2 August.
The top four go to the quarterfinals.

Ladies
Group play: July 25 – August 2. Quarterfinals: August 4th. Semifinals: August 6. Bronze match and final: August 8.
Group A: The Netherlands, Montenegro, Norway, Japan, South Korea, Angola.
Group B: Spain, ROK (team of the Russian Olympic Committee *), Hungary, Sweden, France, Brazil.
Gentlemen
Group games: July 24-August 1. Quarterfinals: August 3rd. Semifinals 5 August. Bronze match and final: 7 August.
Group A: Norway, France, Germany, Brazil, Spain, Argentina.
Group B: Denmark, Sweden, Portugal, Japan, Egypt, Bahrain.
* Russia has been banned from international sports as Olympic and World Cup tournaments for two years due to doping offenses, but Russian athletes are allowed to participate under a neutral flag.
