Albies hits 3-run homer; Braves win in the 11th

ATLANTA (AP) – Ozzie Albies hit a three-run homer off Lucas Sims in the bottom of the 11th inning, and the Atlanta Braves beat the Cincinnati Reds 8-6 on Wednesday night.

Albies’ 19th home run landed 412 feet from home plate, in the right field stands, to spark the raucous celebration at Truist Park. He pushed Adam Duvall, who started the inning as an automatic running back, and Joc Pederson, who walked a Sims (4-2) walk.

Kyle Farmer hit a runoff single in the 11th inning off Edgar Santana (3-0), and Joey Votto hit a pair of two-run homers for Cincinnati.

Votto sent the game into extra innings with a home run off closer Will Smith in the ninth inning. He was 5-for-4 and reached five times.

The Braves weren’t at a disadvantage until Barnhart hit his single. Cuban Guillermo Heredia hit a two-run home run off Wade Miley early in the game and Austin Riley drove in a pair of runs for Atlanta.

For the Reds, the Venezuelan Eugenio Suárez 5-1 with a pushed. The Dominican Aristides Aquino 1-0 with a scored.

For the Braves, the Venezuelan Ehire Adrianza 1-0. Cuban Heredia 5-1 with one scored and two RBIs.
