The best Tarn hopefuls competing in the Tarn championship.

On Saturday May 21 at the Causses gymnasium, the Youth Cup was held, organized by the Tarn Table Tennis Committee in collaboration with the ASPTT Albi club. The opportunity to see the best young shoots in the department at work for amateurs and especially the last rehearsal before the Tarn Jeune Championships which will take place in Saint-Paul-Cap-de-Joux today, Saturday 28 May.

For this competition organized with a Davis Cup format, thirteen pairs were involved in the 11 and 13 year old categories. The 26 entrants came from the four clubs that took part in the competition: the premises of ASPTT Albi, Ping-Saint Paulais, Castres TT and TT Pays Gaillacois. The format was as follows: each player played a single and in the event of a tie the teams decided with a double.

In the 13-year-old category, the locals of ASPTT Albi were full of success with a clear round on the podium: the favorite pair Talon – Candelon logically took the gold medal, followed by the pair Le Bot – Charrière , Hourcastagnou and Miailhe take the bronze medal.

Wayon – Goodness retain their title

In the 11-year-old category, it was the Gaillac pair Wyon – Bonté who retained their title thanks to a snatch victory against the Saint-Paulaise pair Zenatti – Berthier in a very tight final, two beautiful singles and a very dispute. On the third step of the podium is the Albi-Gaillac agreement with a bronze medal for the pair Carrère – Doudement Ithamar.

A very pleasant afternoon for the young table tennis players from Tarn who were able to fine-tune the final settings before the Tarn Youth Championships today.

The opportunity also to play doubles matches which are all too rare in youth competitions, a good way to understand the server-receiver rules which have been repeated many times throughout the competition.
