MAZATLÁN.- A new film is coming to Prime Video, it is called “Pimpinero: Sangre y Gasolina”, which brings in its leading cast Alberto Guerra, Alejandro Speitzer, Juanes and Laura Osma.

It is directed by Colombian Andrés Baiz, known for productions such as Griselda, Narcos and The Hidden Face and which arrives as part of the official selection of the Toronto International Film Festival, with its world premiere scheduled for September 9.

What is it about? Pimpinero: Blood and Gasoline?

The film explores the powerful universal themes of borders and family ties, making the film a must-see story for audiences around the world.

It is set in the desert of the border area between Colombia and Venezuela, where gasoline smugglers known as “pimpineros” risk their lives transporting illegal fuel from one country to another.

When Juan, the youngest of a clan of three brothers involved in this dangerous trade, is forced to work for a sinister rival, the dark side of the business is exposed with tragic consequences.

Determined to uncover the horrible secrets that surround this no man’s land, Juan’s girlfriend Diana sets out on a journey in search of the truth.

Javiera Balmaceda, who leads the original content team for Latin America, Canada and Australia at Amazon Studios, said they are proud to continue being the home of talent that reflects the confidence in their productions.

“The film’s vision addresses universal themes such as family ties and the search for truth, which our local and global audiences can relate to,” he said.

The film is produced by the production company Dynamo. It is written by María Camila Arias and directed, written and produced by Andrés Baiz. The production team also includes Andrés Calderón as producer and Cyndi Rojas as associate producer.

Pimpinero: Blood and Gasoline will join a growing list of international films and TV shows in the Prime Video catalogue, including Amazon Originals productions from Latin America.
