Moments before, the League of Governors held a scheduled meeting in the city of Buenos Aires to analyze current issues related to the provinces, after the meeting held just over a month ago in Resistencia, Chaco.
Governors Jorge Captainich (Chaco); Osvaldo Jaldo (Tucuman); Gildo Insfran (Formosa); Raúl Jalil (Catamarca); Gustavo Melella (Land of Fire); Sergio Unac (San Juan); Sergio Ziliotto (The Pampa); Alberto Rodriguez Saa (Saint Louis); Mariano Arcioni (Chubut) and Gustavo Bordet (Between rivers).
Governors also attended the meeting. Ricardo Quintela (La Rioja, by videoconference); Axel Kicillof (Buenos Aires); Gerardo Zamora (Santiago del Estero); Alicia Kirchner (Holy Cross) and Omar Perotti (Santa Fe).
Upon entering the meeting at the CFI, the president from Tucuman, Osvaldo Jaldostated that the governors are “willing to accompany” the measures taken by the national government in relation to the economic situation.
Jaldo assessed that the provincial leaders are “concerned” about the economic situation and considered that the Minister of Economy, Silvina Batakis, did “very well” during her recent tour of the United States, where she met with authorities from the International Monetary Fund ( IMF), and the financial and business sector of that country.
The meeting, held in downtown Buenos Aires, was initially planned in the city of San Carlos de Bariloche.
The last meeting of the League of Governors was held on June 24, when the provincial leaders called for redoubling efforts to achieve “greater federalism in decision-making” and discussed current issues.
The formalization of the League of Governors took place on June 10 at the CFI headquarters after several preparatory meetings.
The leaders gathered in this League of Governors share their concern about the distribution of co-participation resources and the legal dispute that is in the Supreme Court of Justice, where the city of Buenos Aires claims funds that were drawn by the macrista government for the payment of the Buenos Aires Police and who were later reassigned by the Government of Alberto Fernández.
