Alberto Fernández and Patricia Bullrich, face to face in a new mediation hearing

Alberto Fernandez – Patricia Bullrich

After the failure of a mediation last year, President Alberto Fernandez advanced in a lawsuit against the head of the PRO Patricia Bullrich for about $100 million. It is due to the statements of the former Minister of Security of Mauricio Macri about an alleged request for bribes from government officials to the pharmaceutical company Pfizer in the negotiation for the purchase of vaccines against COVID-19. Tomorrow there will be a conciliation hearing between the head of state and the leader of the opposition in the civil court that intervenes in the case.

As detailed, the hearing is scheduled for 12 at 490 Talcahuano Street, where the civil court 21 in charge of Luis Saénz operates. He learned that the head of state will appear accompanied by his lawyer Gregorio Dalbon. The lawsuit seeks Bullrich to retract his claim or pay damages for that claim.

Already in the mediation prior to the lawsuit, there was no agreement. Now, this conciliation query is searched within the file. If there is still no agreement, the test case is opened in which the head of state seeks compensation of 100 million pesosas his lawyer made public, in order to be donated.

What caused the start of this lawsuit were Bullrich’s statements last year on the channel The Nation+. “González García’s attitude was to try to make a comeback. The President was not unaware of that.”said the head of the PRO in reference to the negotiation between the former Minister of Health and the Pfizer laboratory to buy their vaccines against the coronavirus.

Both Fernandez and Gonzalez Garcia and the laboratory denied Bullrich. “Pfizer has not received requests for improper payments at any time. On the other hand, the company does not have intermediaries, private distributors or representatives for the provision of the COVID-19 vaccine., maintained the laboratory through a statement. So did the CEO of Pfizer, Nicolás Vaquer, when he exhibited at the beginning of the month in the National Congress. For his part, González García also appealed to the courts. “I consider Bullrich’s complaint to be appallingly serious. I want to make as many demands on him as possible. This cannot happen,” said the former Minister of Health.

At that time, the head of the PRO ratified her statements on the social network Twitter: “Not signing the contract is the act of corruption. From there, they staged the lie that Pfizer asked for leonine conditions, while he sold them to all our neighbors in acceptable conditions. We Argentines are destroyed, locked up, without education and without work. And this government, once again, abandoned society to its own fate. And they will have to explain it before the Justice. Pfizer’s statement does not deny anything I say. Therefore, I reaffirm my sayings.”

Initially, as soon as the lawsuit was announced, there was a mandatory mediation where there was no agreement. Via zoom, in front of the head of state, Patricia Bullrich ratified her words. “The hearing ended without agreement. We will respect the confidentiality of its content. The President of the Nation @alferdez will appeal to the Civil Court. Stage finished,” he posted. Gregorio Dalbon, Alberto Fernández’s lawyer, on his Twitter social network account, on June 18, 2021. What will happen tomorrow is the judicial stage: the conciliation to verify if the two parties maintain their position. Bullrich’s to ratify his accusation, the president’s to move forward with the civil suit.
