Alberto Chicote presented this weekend on social networks the new New Year’s menu that he will offer at the Omeraki restaurant, inaugurated a few months ago and with great reception in the capital. The chef showed the dishes she will be preparing for clients on such a special occasion, creations ranging from an Iberian ham croquette with her own slice of ham to braised pularda with shallots and truffles. However, What attracted the most attention on social media was the price: 350 euros.
“We already have the menu that we will be serving at Omeraki restaurant this New Year’s Eve. If you would like to join us on this special evening, bookings are now open,” she said on Twitter. The cook received dozens of replies and stopped to answer some of them, especially those questioning the price.
“Foie gras, wagyu, prawns, brown crab, caviar, sea bream, truffle, pularda, ham, scallops…” Chicote wrote in response to a user who described the price of the menu as “fabric”. Already on Instagram she insisted that it’s the only menu available for that day, that The 350 euros include absolutely everything that the text provides and that “hopefully” a zero will remain from the amount it asks for.
The debate that was generated in social networks reminded of the commotion it caused Dabiz Muñoz’s decision to increase the price of its menu on DiverXo from 250 to 365 euros. In an interview he gave shortly after, the cook assured that “paying 365 euros per meal is not something for the rich”, he compared it to other experiences such as a football match or a concert and insisted that a Ferrari, a yacht or a five-star hotel is exclusive to people with more purchasing power.
