Albert Verlinde very consciously does not let go of his love life. The 59-year-old entertainment expert made that decision a few years ago, he told Sunday in conversation with the Perstribune on NPO Radio 1.
Verlinde said that he has released enough in the past about his love relationships and that he no longer feels it necessary to elaborate on this further. “At one point I just made the choice: I do my thing and I really enjoy it and I am very happy, but I will not say more about it.”
Verlinde is married to former VVD politician Onno Hoes and that relationship has been widely reported in the media. The couple was discredited when Hoes was spotted kissing another man in 2013. The Show newsexpert, however, has always stayed with Hoes, rejecting rumors that their relationship has ever cooled off. “We have always remained very good friends, always remained buddies and that’s it.”
The incident did ensure that Verlinde started to look at his work differently. Where he previously had little trouble with getting gossip news out, he now thinks twice about it. “I now also know the impact of shouting something on TV that two to three million people watched.”
