The Los Angeles Dodgers returned to play at home on Friday and beat Texas Rangers 12-1, adding their fourth win in a row.
The Angelenos scored 6 runs in the first inning alone and rallied from there for the comfortable victory.
“We pride ourselves on our offense, but we have fun too, it’s part of the game. We have players who are having great at-bats, ”shared Clayton Kershaw, who took the win from the mound.
Kershaw was the starting pitcher for the reigning Major League champions. Kershaw scored his eighth win of the season, after six innings worked in which he gave up three hits, allowed one unclean run and struck out nine batters.
As has become the custom of late, Dodgers pitchers have joined the rotation on offense. Kershaw had two hits in the game, one RBI, in three at-bats.
“It doesn’t bother me that they ask me how the pitchers did at the plate, that means they are doing well, it’s a good thing, they are having fun and I hope we continue to talk about it all year,” said manager Dave. Roberts.
The Dodgers offense was the star of the night with five home runs included in the bulky win. The night was special at Dodgers Stadium with fireworks backing up the hits. Max Muncy, Justin Turner, Gavin Lux, Albert Pujols and Will Smith all finished with home runs.
The arrival of Pujols to the team has been a great addition to the group. In 19 games with the Blues, he has 7 runs, 15 hits, 5 home runs and 13 RBIs.
“(Albert Pujols) has been very productive, both on the field and in the dugout, he is obviously a Hall of Fame player, even so you can’t know how things will turn out; But the fact that he is motivated and excited to be here is what we have and it has been a very good thing for everyone, ”said Roberts.
Max Muncy and Cody Bellinger had to leave the game due to injury. Muncy was removed from the game in the second inning due to right-side strain, the good news is that it was not a relapse of his existing right ankle discomfort. In the fifth inning, Bellinger was the one who had to come out after hitting an RBI single due to thigh strain.
“We will evaluate them day by day to see their progress,” said Roberts regarding the discomfort of both players.
