Albert Heijn will deliver its own meals | NOW

Supermarket chain Albert Heijn is entering the meal delivery market. The concept with which meals are delivered is called Meal at Home. AH announced this on Wednesday.

With this new branch of sport for the company, the supermarket chain focuses on people who find it difficult to get a hot meal on the table or who do not feel like or have the time to cook for themselves.

The meals cost between 5.99 euros and 8.29 euros. Via Meal Home, customers can also order adapted meals, such as low-salt, gluten-free or vegetarian food.

“The food is also cut smaller if necessary,” says AH, which also focuses emphatically on older people. The delivery of the meals, which you have to heat up yourself, is almost nationwide.

AH promises that the same delivery person will come to the door at fixed times with the bite to be heated. “He also has time for a chat.”

The supermarket sees meal delivery as the next step after home delivery of groceries. That service was recently launched on a limited scale extensive with fast delivery via Thuisbezorgd.nl and Deliveroo, for the time being in Amsterdam.
