Albert Heijn tests cash payment at the checkout with automatic scanning | NOW

On Tuesday, supermarket group Albert Heijn placed a so-called cash launderer in a refurbished shop for the first time. You can also pay for the expense you scan yourself in cash on the device. A spokesperson for AH said this when asked.

You can pay with both banknotes and coins. The device then returns the change, the spokesperson said. The supermarket is now testing the concept in a converted shop in Pijnacker, South Holland.

“The intention is that as many shops as possible will be equipped,” said the spokesperson. Even people who prefer to do everything themselves can do it. The spokesman stresses that the cash register with an employee behind it will continue to exist.
