Albert Heijn resumes savings stamp promotions and other customer ties NOW

Supermarket chain Albert Heijn (AH) will be able to save for fresh food containers from Tuesday onwards and purchase stamps can be placed again soon. A spokesperson for AH said this to NU.nl when asked. Personal bonus offers are also made to customers again.

“We see that, after a few hectic weeks in which we spent all our energy on stocking our stores and applying measures to ensure the 1.5 meter distance, there is now room to start other activities,” said the spokesman.

The campaign to save for the food containers was stopped in mid-March. Because of the contact that exists between the customer and the cashier – when stamps are given and cards are handed in – and because the supermarket chain had other priorities, such as supplies.

“We have carefully looked at how we can resume the savings campaign in this special time, both for the store and for our customers, in a pleasant and safe way,” said the spokesperson. This indicates that the food containers are so handy at this time. “Consumers cook more at home, store more and sometimes cook for someone else.”

AH encourages customers to prefer digital savings. If they do that via the app, they will receive five stamps for free. “For those who want to continue saving physically, the necessary measures have been taken to avoid hand-to-hand contact,” said the spokesperson. The stamps are then placed on the payment platform by the cashier.

Customers like to stick stamps

“A full savings card can be placed in a special box after customers have shown it to an employee.” AH also says it wants to issue purchase stamps again soon. “Also taking into account all security measures.”

Customers can save those stamps and receive interest on the saved credit with a full card. Albert Heijn has always said that this savings campaign is not digitized, because customers like to stick stamps. The supermarket chain has also started making personal bonus offers to customers again.

Albert Heijn also suspended the ad campaign with the hamster weeks, because hoarding had a negative connotation at the beginning of the corona crisis. That action is not yet coming back.
