Albania sends dozens of rioting Roma fans back to Italy | Abroad

The riots broke out on Tuesday evening when officers wanted to prevent a group of Dutch supporters from clashing with Italian fans. They were pelted with stones and bottles. The Albanian authorities later reported the arrest of 60 fans, including 12 Dutchmen. Nineteen officers were injured, one of them was stabbed.

Calm had returned to the Albanian capital on Wednesday morning, according to police, but police have urged cafes and bars not to serve alcohol in glass bottles to avoid being thrown in new clashes with the police. There are 2,000 officers on the move to keep order in the city.

Feyenoord is supported in the match against AS Roma by an estimated 8000 fans who have traveled to Tirana in all kinds of different ways in recent days. About 4000 supporters have a place in the stadium. The rest will follow the match in a so-called fan zone on the Murat Toptani promenade in Tirana, which has been specially set up for Feyenoord supporters.
