The business figures of Albacete companies in the United Kingdom reached an all-time high in 2023, with a total export volume to that destination of 94.4 million euros, which represents an increase of 42% compared to sales in the United Kingdom United last year.
These records are three times those that happened 10 years before, because in 2013 almost 33 million were sold to the member of the European Union at the time. In the rest of the last decade, at the time of Brexit, the figures increased cautiously and then went on to more than exceptional growth in the last two years.
This business volume corresponds to the sales of 63 companies based in Albacete, the same number registered in 2022, but 10 more than those registered at the beginning of the decade. Its export activity means that the province maintains a positive trade balance of more than 60 million euros with the United Kingdom, as imports from there remained at 33.8 million euros .
All these figures appear in an analysis of the British market prepared by ICEX Castilla-La Mancha, with data that can be expanded on the regional statistical portal. Here it can be seen that it is the agricultural industry that holds more transactions there, with a little more than 28 million euros in exports, with almost half of these corresponding to confectionery and wine products. At the same time, the sale of electrical tools and equipment is growing significantly, almost reaching 20 million, and transport equipment is the third sector by export volume, with a little more than 10.
Regional figures. In 2023, exports from Castilla-La Mancha to the United Kingdom reached 446.6 million euros, while imports were worth 425.9 million euros, resulting in a bilateral trade balance of 20.7 million euros. Sales to the United Kingdom grew by nearly 30% compared to 2022, when they stood at nearly 346 million.
At the national level, exports reached 22,564.2 million euros and imports reached 10,796.8 million euros, resulting in a balance of 11,767.4 million euros.
