The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) condemned this Friday “sabotage operations” against Venezuela’s electrical systemafter a national blackout was recorded this morning at 4:50 local time (8:50 GMT), of which The bloc blamed “a fascist sector”.

«ALBA-TCP strongly repudiates the direct, blatant and flagrant violation of the human rights of the Venezuelan people and demands that the harassment of this sister nation cease»said the alliance, made up of Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Grenada, Saint Lucia and Venezuela.

The ALBA He blamed “a fascist sector” that “does not accept the will of the Venezuelan people” and “insists on continuing with its coup plans” for “this vandalistic and criminal act.”in reference to the largest opposition coalition, which claims that its standard-bearer, Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutiawas the winner of the presidential elections, according to “83.5%” of the minutes that they say they gathered from witnesses and table members.

However, the regional bloc has demanded that the official result announced by the National Electoral Council (CNE) be respected, which proclaimed the re-election of the president. Nicolas Madurosomething that anti-Chavez supporters consider “fraud”, while the Government insists on its victory and claims that the electoral records compiled by the opposition are “forged”.

The alliance – led by Chavista and former Venezuelan foreign minister Jorge Arreaza – expressed its support for “all actions” of the Government “to restore normality”, “determine those responsible” and return “tranquility” to Venezuela after the national blackout.

On Friday, Maduro blamed the “attack” on “fascist currents” that “pretended to be the opposition,” while he announced that the authorities have “determined the mechanisms that were used” in this incident, but he did not provide further details, since – he said – the investigation “is in full process” in order “to achieve justice in this case.”

The blackout affected most states, according to reports, and was the second in Venezuela after the one recorded in March 2019, when a good part of the country was without electricity for four days, for which the Government pointed the finger at the opposition and the United States and Colombia, led at the time by Donald Trump and Iván Duque, respectively.
