09:30 Kuartango already has a mayor

Miren Meabe, from the PNV, will be the new mayoress of Kuartango. The independent candidate of the PP has given his support to the PNV.

All the plenary sessions in Álava

In total, Álava is holding 50 plenary sessions today, plus the 2 in Condado de Treviño. Monday will be that of Ribera Alta. Of these, there are 32 Town Halls with an absolute majority. 18 from the PNV, 12 from EH Bildu, 1 from PSE and another from the PP.

09:00 The early risers

Elburgo (Natalia López de Munain, from the PNV, and her sixth legislature) and Kripan (Joseba Fernández, from the PNV, who is serving her fourth legislature) already have a government. After them, the Vitoria-Gasteiz plenary session begins. But also those of Ayala and Kuartango. In the latter, curious to know who will rule the town.

Delay in Ribera Alta

This municipality will not have a mayor this Saturday. In principle, the only one. The necessary quorum is missing to hold the plenary session, which will be delayed until Monday at 10:00.

The first and last meeting of the day

Elburgo is the most early riser town. His plenary will be at 8:00, to take advantage of the rest of the day. On the contrary, Berantevilla will finish the day, at 19:00.

In others, the pacts and movements of the last few days have already anticipated the result. It is the case of Llodio, where EH Bildu won and will receive the support of Omnia. Both will govern in coalition.

However, in others like Ayala, the forecast has not been fulfilled. Aiara Batuz had announced that they would vote for themselves because of the lack of agreement with EH Bildu. However, at the last moment, in the same plenary session, they have given their support to this formation, which 28M came in third place. Thus, Pruden Otegi, from EH Bildu, is the new mayor.

He earthquake this Thursday in Labastidaafter the PNV gave up running and its candidate resigned, gives power to the PP, which won in the last elections.

Municipalities with doubts

but there are others 9 places where, with a few hours to go before the investitures began, doubt was the queen. Tension until the last moment. Will there be PNV-PP pacts despite the fact that the former have actively denied it for days? Will the PNV look at EH Bildu, who has guaranteed their votes, despite the fact that this is a red line for the popular? Or will local interests and preferences win out over the rulings of the directives?

It is what has happened in low bank, where Ribera Baja Bizirik won with 4 councilors. His spokesperson, Amado Martínez de Iturrate, recognized Gasteiz Hoy’s greater affinity with the PP councillors. And that closeness has allowed him to get the ‘makila’. Could this result have influenced what happened in Laguardia?

Because the plenary session of the town of La Rioja was after that of Ribera Baja and, in this enclave of historical relevance, there was a pressure cooker. The PP won by only 12 votes and wanted to rule. The PNV candidate announced at the time that he would present himself, without the leadership in Álava endorsing him. And EH Bildu offered him his votes. Well, the jeltzale Raúl García has seen his wish come true and will continue to lead the Mayor’s Office.

In Oion, EH Bildu won with 5 councilors. It has been one of the surprises of the day. The jeltzale José Antonio Tarraga did not want to present a candidacy. Thus, possible support from the PSE and PP has evaporated. And it has been José Manuel Villanueva, from EH Bildu, who has been elected as the new mayor.

In Legutio, As expected, the PNV-PSE pact adds 6 councilors and they unseat EH Bildu, the winning formation.

More complex is the scenario in Razzua-Ubarrundia. There, the PNV leads, with only 6 ballots more than the second, a tie at 3. The key was to know what the independents of Goazen would do. As there are no last-minute agreements, the next 4 more years (and they have already been 44) will also be under the peneuvista mandate.

EH Bildu won in Zigoitia and Kuartango. But he will not rule. His equality in councilors with the PNV made the PP the tie-breaking vote. And the popular ones have fulfilled their promise of “gratis et amore” votes, to facilitate both jeltzal investitures.

Although in Kuartango the popular Ana Salazar renounced her act of councilor And, instead, it was the second on the list, the independent Juan Pablo Galán (who was on the VOX lists in 2019) who tipped the scales.

Uncertainty also hovered over Alegría-Dulantzi. The current mayor, ‘Gari’, was second behind the PNV, which won 5 seats. He did not hide his desire to receive the support of EH Bildu to repeat his mandate. And although it seemed that there was nothing firm, in the end he has managed to repeat his mandate.

Trevino County it is a separate case. There are 9 councilors from 5 parties. Treviño Día a Día has won the elections, with the Independent Association in second position. The main parties add up to only 4 of the 9 councillors: 2 PP, 1 PNV and 1 EH Bildu. In the end, it has been the PP that has given its votes so that the current councilor, Adolfo Estavillo, repeats his mandate.
