A preliminary report has revealed how an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max lost a door while flying last month. The thing turned out not to be properly secured.
Minutes after the Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max 9 took off from Portland on Friday, January 5, at an altitude of 17,000 feet, the 171 passengers and six crew members on board were shocked when a door panel came loose. An emergency landing was immediately made and fortunately there were no injuries.
Research has now shown what went wrong that day. According to the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board, four bolts, which are crucial for closing the door and keeping it closed, were missing. They had been recently removed from a Boeing factory in Renton, Washington, but apparently forgotten to replace them with new ones.
As proof, a photo was shown clearly showing that the bolts were missing.
