A statement was made regarding the purchase and sale of animals in Denizli. Denizli Provincial Animal Health Police Commission meeting was held and it was reported that new decisions were taken. It was decided to ban the purchase and sale of animals due to foot-and-mouth disease in bovine and ovine animals and to close animal markets indefinitely.

SAT-2 serotype foot-and-mouth disease, which has a very severe course in bovine and ovine animals and is known to have a high morbidity/mortality rate, has started to be seen in the country. Upon the situation, the Provincial Animal Health Police Commission convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Governor Abdullah Etil in Denizli Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. During the meeting, consultations were held on the measures to be taken to prevent the disease. After the commission meeting, an information meeting was held with the participation of Denizli Provincial Cattle Breeders’ Association, Dairy Producers’ Association, Sheep and Goat Breeders’ Association, Meat Combination Directorate, KöyKoop and slaughterhouse officials regarding the Decisions of the Provincial Animal Health Police Commission No. 2023/3.

In the announcement made after the meeting, “Prohibiting the purchase and sale of animals between enterprises until further notice, closing animal markets indefinitely, directing the animals to be slaughtered to the nearest slaughterhouses if possible, making sure that the animals to be slaughtered are referred and reported under the control of the official veterinarian, and contrary action is taken. penal action against those who do, complying with the necessary hygiene and disinfection measures in livestock enterprises and milk collection centers, stopping animal movements of species susceptible to foot-and-mouth disease in and out of the province, except for the dispatches made for slaughter, import and export, and road controls in coordination with the police and gendarmerie teams. It has been announced that decisions have been taken regarding the continuation of the increase and the completion of the 2023 spring term FMD vaccinations immediately.
