Alarm due to the increase in COVID-19 cases and absenteeism for vaccination

The health authorities are alarmed by the increase in COVID-19 cases, they also show concern at the great absenteeism that occurred this week in the application of the second dose against the virus.

Tibás, La Uruca and Merced are the areas of the capital where this week there were more users to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to the Costa Rican Social Security Fund, it is urgent that the residents of these areas between 30 and 57 years old who had to be vaccinated between August 30 and October 3 complement the vaccination scheme.

And it is that only in the Chlorite Clinic, between Monday and Wednesday of this week, a 40% absenteeism was registered, because here they intended to place 2,100 doses but only 1,307 were applied.

According to health authorities, some people have expressed doubts about getting the COVID-19 vaccine, fearing a reaction due to the 8-week delay between each dose.

A similar situation is occurring in the Osa sector, in the South Zone.

The authorities ask the population to go to be vaccinated, as they reiterate that this minimizes the degree of hospitalization in case COVID-19 affects them.

Vaccination absenteeism is even more worrisome considering that coronavirus cases continue to increase.
