“Alan Wake 2 to Feature Two Main Characters for a Darker and More Complex Story”

The author Alan Wake 2 explained why the game will have two main characters – Alan Wake and FBI agent Saga Anderson. The developers shared their thoughts in an interview with GameSpot, and we chose the main thing from the text.

  • Saga Anderson was played and voiced by obscure serial actress Melanie Lieberd. Her heroine arrives in Bright Falls to investigate the mysterious death of Agent Nightingale, who pursued Wake in the first part.
  • Remedy calls Anderson a gifted investigator who is obsessed with her job and solves the most complex crimes. However, the developers do not consider Saga a superheroine.

  • The introduction of a second character allowed Remedy to tell a larger story and show different points of view on the events taking place. The saga is an integral heroine of the game, and the developers took the development of the character seriously. She will comment on what is happening, just like Wake in the original, which will allow players to get to know the agent better.

“When you start playing, you will understand why the Saga appeared in Bright Falls. She needed to be there. Alan needs Saga, and Saga needs Alan.” – Melanie Lieberd

  • Screenwriter Sam Lake declined to say if the Saga is related to the Old Gods of Asgard band members who appeared in the first part. They also bear the surname Anderson.
  • The authors of Alan Wake 2 had several options for the script, and they chose the darkest one. Therefore, the developers needed a character who can stand up for himself and not go crazy from the horrors that are happening.
  • If only Alan were the main character, then all the action of the game would take place in the abode of a dark entity. And in the company of the Saga, fans will be able to return to Bright Falls again and explore its surroundings.

Alan Wake 2 releases October 17 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
