Alan Wake 2: Exciting Updates on Sage Anderson and Gameplay Revealed at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live

With just over two months to go until the release of the long-awaited return of writer Alan Wake, so far the marketing has focused more on the game’s second protagonist, FBI agent Saga Anderson. She was first shown to players during the PlayStation Showcase 2023 presentation, where the release date was also announced, and we later learned that she is not just another character in the writer’s story, but a second playable character. We learned more about Sage from a more detailed presentation from the developers at Remedy, but now it’s time for Alan himself to speak again. As announced by Geoff Keighley, this will happen at Gamescom, more precisely during Opening Night Live.

Even the promised gameplay demo, which was presented at the Summer Game Fest by Sam Lake in person, focused on Saga with unedited footage from the beginning of the game. While Alan is a writer and seeks inspiration for his work (and in his current situation, not only that), Saga, as an FBI agent, cannot leave anything out during the investigation, so the two act as opposites and do not always agree on the procedure. At the same time, the story and playing as Saga or Alan should form two sections of approximately the same length, so Alan fans don’t have to worry about coming up short. Still, they’ll no doubt be pleased now that Alan himself is getting some attention. In addition, according to Keighley, we will visit directly at a dark placewhere the poor writer is currently imprisoned.

Opening Night Live takes place on August 22 at 20:00 our time and we will broadcast the event live for you with Czech translation. Alan Wake 2 launches on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on October 17. You can find more information about the game in our archive.
