With a good goal by Rodrigo Battaglia, at 65 minutes, the Brazilian team qualified for the next round. For his part, the Ecuadorian played the entire match, completing 21 of 28 (75%) passes, won 1 of 2 aerial duels and 1 of 3 duels on the field; he also had 1 clearance and 1 successful interception.
But the match took a different turn after the police attacked the Argentine fans with tear gas, which reached the pitch and ended up affecting Alan Franco and the players of both clubs. A regrettable event, which stole the limelight from the great duel that was taking place between Brazilians and Argentines.
By the 85th minute, the match followed its script, which ended with the qualification of Atlético Mineiro, who will face Fluminense in the quarterfinals of the CONMEBOL Libertadores.
