The Savoyard Alain Simac has an impressive experience and an XXL track record in long distance swimming and in icy water. He added a new string to his bow on Monday, September 4, by swimming across Europe and Africa, Spain and Morocco, via the Strait of Gibraltar (15 km).

He is the tenth Frenchman to make this crossing

Alain Simac, who has been preparing for many months, is the tenth Frenchman to succeed in this crossing and the third Frenchman to complete the Channel/Gibraltar duo (after Jacques Tuset and Arnaud Chassery). “It was the second leg of ”The Ocean Seven Challenge”, which includes the seven largest sea crossings in the world (Northern Channel, English Channel, Tsugaru Strait, Cook Strait, Santa Catalina Channel , Molokai and the Strait of Gibraltar, i.e. more than 206 km) and the first stage of the ”swim the world” which consists in connecting all the continents”.
