Alacranes beats Morazán and continues in the fight for a ticket in the National Soccer League – – 2024-04-25 02:23:31

Alacranes beat Morazán 3-2 at the Correcaminos Stadium and boosted their chances of qualifying for the next phase of the National Football League Lottery Cup 2023-24.

The northern team has 45 points and is two units behind Ahuachapán in the fight for eighth place and with two games to play in the case of the Chalateco team.

Atlético La Unión, Ahuachapán, Alacranes and Sonsonate still have a chance to secure one of the two tickets to the quarterfinals that are still up for grabs.

The leader Cabañas, San Salvador, San Miguel, Usulután, Santa Tecla and Santa Ana are already classified in advance.

José Rauda opened the scoring in the 16th minute for the northerners at Correcaminos with a shot from the edge of the area in an action that originated from an error by the local team that lost the ball when trying to leave its area.

Alacranes was close to the second goal in the 38th minute with a header that shook the horizontal post and on the counterattack, the goalkeeper reacted in time with a swipe to send the ball for a corner kick.

After several approaches, the score was 2-0 in the 45th minute with a great action from the left and a cross pass that Harold Salguero controlled with one leg and in the next action he scored a violent shot.

The Torogoces scored with José Martínez’s goal via penalty in the 51st minute, after a foul in the area by José Quiñones who raised his leg too much and grazed the face of an opponent that was considered a dangerous play.

The third Chalateco goal was celebrated by Pedro Castillo with a low but well-placed shot that Pedro Pérez could not contain.

At minute 92, Josué Orellana scored again for the locals in a score that came late for the interests of Morazán’s team, who remain in last place with 14 points.

Alacranes will close the third round against Usulután and San Vicente.

For its part, Ahuachapán put its qualification to the quarterfinals on hold by losing a 1-1 draw against San Vicente at the Arturo Simeón Magaña Stadium.

The border team accumulates 47 points and remains in eighth place, but has not yet secured a ticket; however, it will have the opportunity to reserve a place in the games against Sonsonate, La Paz and Morazán.

Jordan Pineda scored 1-0 in the first minute of play for the hosts, a score that changed the script for the Vincentians who were surprised when they were barely settling on the field.

San Vicente achieved the tie with a low shot from José Cortez in the 55th minute that slipped past the goalkeeper in the low corner.

At the Topiltzín Stadium in Jiquilisco, Usulután beat Santa Ana Municipal 4-1, in a duel in which fifth place was at stake.

Both squads already have a place reserved and their efforts are focused on improving their numbers and closing the third round in a better position.

The first half closed with a 2-0 advantage for the orientals who secured the victory in the last 10 minutes of play. The Usulutecan goals came in the 19th and 35th minutes through David Méndez and Josielson Silva.

The match became exciting with Juan Gil’s discount in the 54th minute, but Usulután settled the match with another goal from Silva, in the 80th minute, and one from Kevin García, in the 82nd minute.
