In three weeks, David Alaba (28) can officially start talks with other clubs. Now the Spanish “Mundo Deportivo” is fueling new rumors.
ÖFB star David Alaba has messed up with the Bayern bosses. After the contract mud fight and the tug-of-war about the salary, the contract offer of the Bavarian side is now withdrawn, according to the “Sport BILD”. Further negotiations are not intended. The club is currently assuming a separation in the summer.
The transfer window will open in three weeks, and Alaba will then be able to officially start talks with other clubs. The last clubs with which the ÖFB star was in contact, according to media reports, are the Spanish top clubs Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. However, both clubs, both the Catalans and Los Blancos, are in financial crisis.
So far, an agreement with Messi’s workplace seemed unlikely, Alaba advisor Zahavi has no good thoughts on the Barca bosses. The “Piranha” made no friends in Barcelona when he transferred superstar Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain for 222 million euros in 2017 thanks to a clause. However, with the Catalans’ presidential election in January, the cards in transfer poker could be reshuffled.
New President a Zahavi friend?
One of the candidates is Joan Laporta (58), who held the office between 2003 and 2010. Zahavi is in close contact with Laporta. If his confidante wins the election, the likelihood of transferring Alaba to Barcelona increases.

In order to raise a possible transfer fee for the Austrian defensive all-rounder, the Barca bosses are now considering proposing an exchange deal. According to a report by the Spanish “Mundo Deportivo”, the Dutchman Frenkie DeJong has been on Bayern’s wish list since 2018 and is a possible defensive reinforcement for Salihamidzic & Co.
Possible barter?
Now the Bayern side is said to have dared a new push at de Jong. According to the report, the club contacted de Jong’s agent Ali Durson to plan possible negotiations. Barça even knew about the contact. According to the report, Barcelona is now offering a swap deal with Alaba in order to be able to bypass the transfer fee of the ÖFB star.
A swap would therefore be a win-win situation. The deal could be over in three weeks … Transfer poker remains exciting.
