Yes and no He simply wants to play more centrally and that is also possible thanks to Davies. According to his statements, it doesn’t matter whether this is IV or ZDM. I personally see him in the best hands with us at the ZDM. Alaba brings with us what we have been missing for years. A duel with speed and extremely good overview and experience. In my eyes it is predestined for the position of a 4-3-3 like e.g. Real plays.

He always wanted to go to the ZM. When Flick moved him to IV, he was initially rather critical about it, since it was unusual for him. But that was at the beginning and since then there has been no more recent statement.
And he was more or less allowed to play the “predestined” position at the NM, but was not very convincing. For this reason, it was increasingly used in LM.
In the IV position you have the game in front of you, in DM you often have it behind you and significantly less time for decision-making. Nor would I call Alaba fast, but not slow either. (Somewhere inbetween)
