“Alaa Mubarak Supports Bassem Youssef’s Criticism of ‘Cleopatra’ Trailer”

Cairo – Masrawy:
Alaa Mubarak, son of the late President Hosni Mubarak, sent a message to journalist Bassem Youssef, after commenting on the launch of the Netflix Trailer movie “Cleopatra”.

Bassem Youssef was responding to statements attributed to the African-American actor, Kevin Hart, that his ancestors ruled Egypt and “built the pyramids” in Egypt, accusing him of “cultural appropriation.”

Youssef said in a television interview, “The matter is not related to people with white or black skin, but rather to the process of cultural appropriation and the philosophy of history carried out by the followers of African Centralism (Afrocentric).”

For his part, Alaa Mubarak commented on Bassem Youssef’s speech by saying: “You are absolutely right about that. I hit the truth with Bassem’s strong points, well done.”
