Yesterday, Thursday, Al-Zour Refinery launched a tender for the immediate sale of low-sulfur fuel oil for the first time in more than three months ago.
The tender offered 130,000 metric tons of low-sulfur fuel oil with a maximum sulfur content of 0.5 percent, as reported by Reuters.
Al-Zour refinery is the largest popular refinery in the world with a capacity of 615 thousand barrels per day. The refinery will have high flexibility because it is designed to process different types of Kuwaiti crude oil including Kuwaiti Heavy Crude (KHC), which will be produced in accordance with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation’s exploration and production strategy. It will mainly provide clean fuel oil for power plants; The expansion plan to full conversion is considered a suitable option, and this strategic project will use Kuwait Heavy Crude (KHC) and other types of crude oil to supply power plants with clean fuel (less than 1% sulfur content).
