The Palestinian National Security Commander in Sidon, Abu Iyad Al-Shaalan, told Lebanon 24: “We continue our battle against the armed elements in Ain al-Hilweh and we will not retreat from protecting the camp’s security,” noting that “Fatah” is now fighting alone inside Ain al-Hilweh, and we were surprised that the Ansar League moved away from it. Frankly, we will reconsider our relationship with her.”

Al-Shaalan added: “In previous times, we informed the Ansar League that we would not fight it even if it fought us, and this matter is testified by those who attended the bilateral meetings. There is a statement issued a short while ago by the Muslim Youth Group calling for a ceasefire, and we are currently studying its details to make the appropriate decision.”
